These are the thoughts currently swirling around in my brain. No wonder I have a headache.

randomtuesday

The girls are out of school this week for Spring Break... and they're currently at my sister's until Thursday. You'd think having the kids out of the house for five days I'd be a little more productive with my time, but... notsomuch. I did color my hair this morning, so there's that.

This past Sunday, Angie and I (finally!) went to see "The King's Speech". If you haven't seen this movie, you really should. The story, the acting... everything about it is fantastic.

I think our official high temp yesterday was 80... and it's supposed to be 81 today! This is my pet peeve about living in the South... the weather goes from one extreme to the other. It's like we have only two seasons here... HOT and COLD.

We're considering vacationing in Hilton Head this summer. We've never been there (I can mark it off my list!) and the last time we were at the beach was in 2004. I'm excited to go but on the other hand, it's been 7 years and 20 (or more) pounds since I've been in public in a bathing suit. Eek!

I finally decided what book(s) to read next (which you can see over on the right). Yes, books... am I the only person who reads more than one book at a time?

I think that's enough random for one post...

You should be living it up with no kids at home!! :)

I can only handle one book at a time! LOL

I haven't been seen publicly in a swimsuit in 7 years either...with good reason. ROFL!

The Kings Speech is excellent! I loved that movie!
Oh, I go to Kiawah Island, SC for a girls trip in the summer... it's beautiful as is Hilton Head... enjoy!
Oh, and why have you waited so long to go to the beach? We live for our beach trip!

I accomplish NOTHING when my kids are gone. My theory, it's the only time we get to truly relax so enjoy your time and do NOTHING!!

We have a church swimming function in August and I am already dreading it! I have been out in a swimsuit but not in front of anybody other than close family! EEK!

I go out in public in my swimming suit quite often... you know why? Because I like being in the sun and I like swimming, and I like being at the beach, and gosh darn it, I'm not going to apologize or feel bad about it. I am who I am, my girls want to be with me, and I'm not going to sit covered up because I'm not a size 2. Gonna live life and love it.

I often read more than one book at a time--I currently have four in progress at Goodreads. My reading tastes depend on my mood.
Wish we could head for the beach. But that's a really long trip for us. Maybe next year.

I have found that I actually get more accomplished when they boys are home too. All I do when they are away is waste time doing nothing! I wish it were 80 here. We had snow yesterday! And congrats on picking your books!

I keep coming up with all sorts of excuses as to why I'm not getting my "to do" list done this week. At the top of the list? Watching reruns of the original 90210 on Soapnet. Classy.

Hilton Head rocks! I'm still holding out hope that we'll hit a beach somewhere ths summer. It's not looking great at the moment. Sigh.

I usually only read 1 book at a time. Glad to see that City of Bones made your cut!

i've read more than 2 book at a time but i prefer just 1. especially now that i have to fight for reading time.

Kathie @ Just a Happy Housewife said...

and I thought it could get extreme in Illinois! haha. It's only 70 today and that's about as "hot" as I like the weather to get. I loathe summer.

I keep saying that Mother Nature must be going through menopause - especially since she has hot flashes followed by freezing temps. ;)

Isn't it funny how you think you can get a ton of stuff done when the kids are out of the house, and yet it seems time flies by way too fast and you get less done?

I want to see The King's Speech too.

LOVE the beach (and I adore Lizzy's comment above).

I often read several books at a time, but of only one genre each. A cooking book, a fiction book, and a book on CD in my car (plus my assigned reading for school)...yep, I'm with you on this one.

I would be loving 80 degrees right now. Supposed to go from 70 to 40 for the rest of the week this week :(

I am NEVER just reading one book at a time. My husband bought me a Nook color last week (squeeee!) which will be quite handy with my 'reading 5 books at once' problem - I'll be able to just carry one thing!

I'm glad to hear that The King's Speech was good. We made the mistake of opting to see Rango instead, and aye aye aye. We'll need to rent something to make up for that insanity :)

I am green with envy on those temps!!!

How do I get Aunt's and Uncles who take my kids for spring break?! You lucky lady! Enjoy your time and read read read.

My girlfriend goes with her family every summer to Hilton Head. They love it. I'd love to go some time. We never go anywhere.

I hear ya about the weather. 80 here too and snow predicted next week. Oy!

How nice you are getting so much time to yourself. I'm jealous. =)

I read multiple books all the time. Usually only 2 fiction at a time though, or I get my plotlines confused. The rest is all graphic novels or non-fiction.

Michaela (aka Mama Michie) said...

I have more than one book started too. I'm dreading summer when I have to wear a swimsuit. I haven't worn one in years, but I know that the kids will want to go to the beach at the lake in our town. =(

I'm with ya on the bathing suit, and we're going to Jekyl Island next fall....hoping it will be late enough in the year, I will be the only one on the beach! Ah, another advantage of homeschooling, LOL!

I never get anything done when I have kid free time! I'm always so overwhelmed by the silence/inactivity that I crash into my chair and watch TV, lol. Maybe if it happened more often I'd be able to get stuff done. Fun post!

CaraBee said...

Dude, no kids until Thursday? SAVOR IT. I would take that time to do just this side of nothing. Consider it your vacation too. Because we all know there's no rest when they're around.

Captain Dumbass said...

I read more than one at a time too. That way if I'm not in the mood for one I can always switch to the other, or the other, or the other...

I think when everyone is gone, it gives us an excuse to be less productive. I'm with you on the weather, I'm in Georgia, where are you?

I'm a huge fan of random thoughts and often times my mother-in-law (who lives with us) has to just listen to me go on and on.

I do consider her needs too - I offer her wine during my ramblings.
