I now know which one of us would get the kids in a custody agreement.*

Shane usually calls me from work at least once a day. Most of the time it's just to chitchat, but yesterday he called to let me know there's a slight chance he may have to go out of town.

Which isn't unusual... he's had to travel to cities all over Tennessee and Kentucky for his job.

But this latest (possible) assignment is in...

ALASKA.

For SIX. MONTHS.

After the initial shock, my response was pretty much, "Well, if you must." I mean, I understand he has to do the job he's given, whether it's here or 3,000 miles away. Sure, it would be a difficult six months, but we'd get through it.

However, when the girls were told of this latest (possible) assignment, they had a different reaction: "NO." Hannah and Michaela are adamant that Shane will not be going on this trip, no matter what.

Why?

Because they "don't want to live with just Mom for six whole months!"

Yes, those were their actual words.

Guess who's no longer feeling guilty about going to Disney World in September without her kids?

*Moms, don't worry... this title is all in jest.

One of these days, those girls will truly appreciate the awesomeness of their mom. It might be 10 years from now, but that day will come! :-)

And yay for Disney World! I shall live vicariously through your trip.

It took me a long time to get how amazing my mom is... :) Angie is right. They will figure it all out soon enough.

Oops! I'm sure they didn't mean it that way. And it usually takes time to appreciate all the things your parents wouldn't let you do/eat/play with.

oh no! I'm sure they'd say the same thing to Shane if it were you that had to be gone for 6 months.

wow, that is quite a long time! I hope it doesn't turn out to be that long for your sake :-)

Gotta love feeling appreciated, huh...

My little sister once told my mom that she wanted to grow up to be a dad.

Thanks for stopping by during #commenthour. Hope to "see" you around!

I don't know if I could do six months alone with my kids! LOL
It would be tough, but you'd get through it. When do you know for sure?

I didn't really appreciate everything my mom did until there was an ocean (literally) separating us.

6 Months alone without your husband is rough though!

My daughter would have the exact same reaction! And with the attitude she's been having lately, I'd probably try to send her with him, lol. No, not really, but I love that my daughter loves her dad so much. Oh, and I was born in Alaska- it's beautiful! Too bad you can't all go with him...

I agree, its too bad you can't all go with him. It would be an awesome adventure. I'm sure the shock of a possible 6 month break is hard to swallow! Yikes. I'm headed to Disney World without the kids at the end of the Month too! Woohoo! :)

Bwahahaha! The Sexy Beast always says he'd never murder me because then he'd be left alone with the boys and hell no, he'd rather put up with my shit. If t were me, I'd take the job in Alaska and leave their asses at home.

Oh the butal honesty of a child. LOL! Maybe you all should pack up and go with him for a 6 month adventure. Sounds like loads of fun to me. :)

wow. Brutal. They'll feel the love... don't worry!

Maybe they'd like to spend that six months in Alaska with their dad. Think of it as educational.

I'm sure if mine could say more words, she would say the same thing to me! There has been more than once that I have thought about mailing her in a care package to my husband, lol!
