Halloween 2010

...And More Pumpkins!

Those fabulous SITS Girls want to see Halloween crafts, so I'm re-posting this fun activity the girls and I did two years ago.

(Whoa, two years?! It's really been that long?!)

Sara did this cute project with her boys and I thought it looked like something my girls would enjoy. We turned rocks into pumpkins!

Saturday, we painted our rocks and let them dry overnight (it took two or three coats of paint; I'm not sure if it was due to the rocks or the type of paint I used).

The next day, I gave each girl a Sharpie and told them to draw faces on their rocks:

The end result:

The girls even allowed me to join in the fun and paint my own rock-pumpkin. Can you tell which one is mine?

A walk down memory lane...

2003

2004

2005

2006

2007

2008

2009

Looking back through these pictures, I've realized how many times we've reused costumes. Good thing I had two girls... 'cause a boy sure would've looked funny in Cinderella's ball gown.

Where do I go from here?

If you've been hanging around the NutHouse, I'm sure you've noticed the lack of posts lately.

I could chalk it up to having been busy getting things ready for our vacation... and the week long vacation itself.

But, lately...

I don't know. My interest in this blog just isn't there. I don't feel as though I have anything worthy of sharing... so why bother?

I (partially) blame my kids. Seriously.

Now that they're getting older, they no longer say or do cute things, like showing you how a monkey dances.

No recent conversations in the car.

{sigh}

I think my lack of interest partly has to do with the self-induced pressure I've felt to be funny and interesting. To write posts that will have readers flocking to my blog.

{But guess what, Shannon? If you don't write, there's nothing for people to read. DUH.}

Again, I've felt that I've had nothing of importance to share. Yet on the other hand, being away from the blog has made me feel as though I'm missing something. Missing the connections {albeit through the computer} I've made with friends. And missing the writing, which I've always enjoyed, and once even thought I'd make a living at it.

Somehow I'll get back to blogging. As soon as I find some inspiration.

Maybe all I need is another farm animal in my yard.

Table Topics Tuesday: What's your sign?

My birthday is October 15th (why, yes... that is this coming Friday. Hint, hint.)

This makes me a Libra.

The good and not-so-good characteristics of Libras:

Let's see...

Easily influenced?

Always undecided?

Absolutely fabulous?

Yep, I am totally a Libra.

I've also read that Libras love art, gifts, and to be the focus of attention... but do not like noise, dirt, and being rushed. Libras also tend to be slight perfectionists and bossy at times... but also clever and generous by nature.

I think all of these characteristics fit me. Which makes me wonder if there really is a connection between astrology and personality traits. But on the other hand, it's hard for me to believe that my personality is mainly dependent on when I was born.

Wait a minute... I can see both sides of this argument?

I'm a Libra all right.

fun with cotton candy

Three days later, their teeth are still blue.

Table Topics Tuesday: good eats?

I wouldn't call myself a picky eater. But I'm not an adventurous one, either.

There are plenty of foods I've never tried... beets, liver, and most seafood, just to name a few.

But the weirdest thing I
have eaten?

Kjøttkaker. Hands down.

I'm not even sure of the correct way to pronounce it, but this is what kjøttkaker looks like:

It's described as being a Norwegian version of meatballs, traditionally made with ground beef and pork.

It looks harmless enough... but let's just say after a few bites, I can now mark Norwegian cuisine off the list.

The countdown is on...

Our Disney trip is just two weeks away! Woohoo!

I'm not sure who is more excited, me or the girls.

Shane? Notsomuch.

It's not that he isn't glad to be going... he's just not as enthusiastic as the girls and I are.

And speaking of our Disney trip...

I recently came across this fabulous Etsy shop, One Great Thing. Cassi, the shop owner, makes custom (and ready made) tie dye shirts, tank tops, and dresses... featuring Mickey Mouse heads!

Just look at these tank tops I got for the girls to wear:

Cute, right?!

And the tanks are pretty adorable, too.

Just two weeks! I can't wait!

Have you been to Disney World (or Disneyland)? What's your favorite attraction or thing to do there?
