It started "spitting" snow yesterday just before noon... which was about the time I got a phone call from Hannah's teacher, letting me know school was being dismissed early.
Of course, as soon as we got home the girls insisted on playing outside. Although there wasn't much snow to actually play with...
A few hours later bigger, fatter flakes began to fall. Hannah and Michaela headed out again to enjoy what snow there was...
(this photo is a few hours after the 1st one... not much difference!)
Shane made it home safely last night, although he said there were a few places where he slid on ice. And he almost couldn't make it up our driveway!
School has been cancelled for today... in fact, the girls are outside at this moment. They asked if they could go outside "before the snow melts away!", but I won't let them out for very long. The current temp is just 17 degrees... and with the wind chill factored in, it feels like only 3! I took a quick look at the forecast... we may even get more snow this evening.
Anyone else get hit with some winter weather?

We are all home today, too. I think this is the first time that Michael has stayed home from work due to weather. He can't even get up our driveway. We have hardly any snow...it looks similar to your dusting...but the ice...ugh!
However...it means that we will get a lot watched in our LOST marathon!
We awoke to a little snow this morning. It is just enough to be beautiful.
Blessings, andrea
Today is supposed to be the last of this crazy cold arctic blast for us this week. -11 again this morning. I saw one little girl walking to school w/no hat or gloves and only a light weight coat. I'm sure she lived right close to the school, but still...brrrr!
We got a light dusting. I love the plan - we will have to try it next time ; )
We got 4 inches in SW Ohio and about a 1/2 inch more coming today. It is really cold though. Yesterday they cancelled school but today was only on a 2 hour delay. It is going to be a chilly weekend. God day for a fire in the fireplace and hot chocolate!
It's 25 degrees here in on the coast of Louisiana with a windchill of 15 right now. It NEVER gets cold like that this far south! Too bad there is no moisture or we may have gotten a little snow. Tomorrow is supposed to be even colder.
Ah, it is supposed to be in the 70's today and even warmer this weekend. So I'd say No! :)
Dude, it's 15 degrees here and the 1/4 inch of snow outside makes me FEEL colder. :) Atlanta is shut down and I'm making homemade bread.
We got about 4-5 inches at my house yesterday too... yuck!
The windchill at DFW airport this morning was 0.
0!
I walked around all day yesterday with an ice cream headache. Without the joy of Bryers Mocha Almond Fudge. Damn it.
Enjoy the girls enjoying the blizzard!
Yippee! You got Snow ans so did we. See my post fromt his morning. We even got a snowman or snow head out of it. LOL
ok the spoiler here. Windchill is just above zero I think and we got eight inches Wed into Thursday. Check out my blog post to see the deep stuff here in WI. http://angncrew.blogspot.com Oh and we still had school, not much got canceled around here.
We could use a bit more snow and a few warmer days here. We still have plenty of snow on the ground, it is the storms that free us from a toxic inversion layer that threatens everyone's respiratory health. Layer your kids up when you send them out. Helps them stay warmer. Enjoy your weather.
Two snow days in a row.
Six inches of snow.
Three happy kids and a happy schoolteacher husband.
One momma about to go off the deep end.
That about sums it up.
Glad they're having fun :)
We have over two feet of snow and more to come tonight. We also hit our high of 6 degrees. I didn't even want to know what that was with the windchill.
As you know, we got hit with a foot of snow but, we also got strep. So, even though school was on, we had a sick day in our house. I need another martini.
I'm so happy for the girls! I know that kids really enjoy the cold white stuff even if I don't. :)
Thankfully we didn't get any ice, just a little dusting of some dry snow.
I remember snow days! The schools were canceled here yesterday thanks to the storm. My sister who teaches in central IL had both yesterday and today off. I'd say up here we got a total of maybe 6 inches (on top of what was already there)... not too bad, but also not as much as they were predicting.
Oh and we're freezing here too - the high was in the teens today and tomorrow should be colder... yay (not!)
oh...we had 10 flakes of snow fall in Atlanta and every school was closed. Thats how we do it here. Sissies.
You're in TN right? My cousin has been living down there (originally from MA so he is used to a lot of snow). He was making fun of the 1.5 inches that "trapped" him in Knoxville. I know they aren't equipped for that further south but it's just kinda funny to hear stories about it.
Oh, and next time, if they want even more snow.......tell them not to forget to sleep with a spoon under their pillow!
Oh boy is it cold here in N.E. FL. 31 right now and stupid me, I'm still sitting outside!
But why did they cancel school for a dusting of snow? Not that it doesn't rock to get snow days...
Justine :o )
Any snow dance that results in a day of from school is a success in kids' book. Too bad it's not enough to really play in! :(
We actually didn't get hit. I'm surprised, Wyoming is pretty bad most of the time.
That "snow" was just flat out annoying. Not enough for a snowball which was very disappointing for the girls. And me too.
I find it hilarious that you consider that "snow". I don't think that even qualifies for a drizzle 'round here. I can't believe they closed school early for that.
We've got a picture window that's about 3 feet off the ground. One year it snowed so bad, I have a picture of the dog standing there on the snowbank looking straight in the window!
