Vampires, Zombies, and Austen... oh, my!

In honor of Halloween and all things spooky, I wanted to read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies for this month's "Everything Austen" challenge.

I say "wanted to read"... because I still haven't finished the book.

I tried, I really did. But I can't get past Chapter 3.

As much as I am a fan of Jane Austen, I personally find her works very difficult to read. And this book is written in the language and style of Austen. I have yet to decide whether to trudge on through with P&P&Z... or just forget it.

The book I did read for the challenge this month was Mr. Darcy, Vampyre.

I'm already a fan of Amanda Grange... and her latest work did not disappoint. The story is fast-paced and captivating.

Darcy (who is a vampire... just in case you didn't get that from the book title) and Lizzy have just been married and are about to embark on their honeymoon. The newlyweds plan on visiting the Peak District, but Darcy abruptly changes their plans. Instead, they're on their way to Paris... and also travel to Switzerland and Italy. But during what should be a happy time for the couple, a dark mood comes over Darcy and he becomes distant, causing Lizzy to wonder what secrets her new husband is hiding...

Overall, this was a great book... very intriguing story; one that I enjoyed very much!

Yep, Jane Austen is SO not for me, no matter how hard I try.

I'm getting caught up on my People magazine gossip for awhile (I try to get a few at the library). Still waiting for Catching Fire; maybe I'll just buy it...

Have a happy Halloween.

Eleven more days!!!!

I am right there with ya. I tried PP&Z, too. The whole idea is sooo fascinating. But...I still couldn't get through it.

Now...Darcy is a vampyre?? I might have to check that one out!

I tried reading the original P&P and couldn't get through it. Then I watched the movies and fell in love with the story of Elizabeth and Darcy. I wanted to try to read it again now that I know the plot. As far as the zombies, I'm actually kind of intrigued by this. I was hoping it would be written in present day language. That's too bad that it isn't.

Ooh, that vampire Darcy book sounds awesome!! Thanks for the recommendation!

I have it on my big list of things to do to read a Jane Austen book. I keep stalling though, not sure why.

Now Mr Darcy as a vampire? Putting that on my to-read list pronto!

So many Jane Austen books out there - I'm not sure about the vampire thing though - who knows, maybe once I get through some of these other Jane Austen type books, I'll find it interesting. Just finished Confessions of A Jane Austen Addict and loved it.

Sorry to say, I'm not an Austen fan. I saw the P&P movie but had such a hard time understanding the language while my Mom wore her dvd out! ha!
The second book sounds interesting. I do love vampires. I will have to check it out.
