Best. Mom Date. EVER.

Angie and I always have a fabulous time together on our "mom dates". Always. But the Kings of Leon concert last Friday night will be hard to beat. Even with all the pot smoke in the air, we had the best time! (seriously... I could have done without the weed... my eyes were still burning the next morning)

Not to sound like an old fuddy duddy, but I could have also done without the multiple offers of alcohol from the already-three-sheets-to-the-wind couple who stood to my left. You'd think after we had politely declined their offer the first three times, they would have taken the hint...

And speaking of the drunk couple standing next to me, I thought for sure the blonde chick was going to slosh her beer (?) all over me, with all the spastic dancing she was doing. I'm glad she was having a great time and all... but there's a little thing called "personal space". As in, please don't invade mine.

Then, at some point during the concert, blonde chick left (to go to the bathroom or get a refill, I don't know)... meaning her drunk boyfriend was next to me while she was gone. This time I was fearing for the safety of my nose. I'm surprised I didn't get clocked in the face by his flailing elbows from all his "air drumming" going on.

From this it sounds like I didn't have fun... but really, I did! Kings of Leon rocked. the. house. (or arena, whatever) for a good two hours. Those boys seriously put on a great show. I'd love to see them again!

P.S... The last concert I attended at the Philips Arena was back in 2007... my mom, sister, sis-in-law and I went to see Josh Groban. I think it's a safe bet to say no one in the arena was blazin' up a doobie during that show.

You said doobie. LOLLLLL!!!!!

No, really the last big concert I went to was the Taste of Chaos tour and it was the same, minus the weed. (Surprisingly since it was on a college campus.) Drunk peeps everywhere. I was totally hit on by a college dude who tried to kiss me. It was THAT bad.

But I had a great time and would go again in a heartbeat.

Oh meant to add - Glad you had a good time.

And......

ONLY 30 DAYS! Eeeeeeeeek!

Hmmm...what was the last concert that I went to?? I think it was Neko Case. But I am not quite sure.

I am sorry that I missed the best mom date evah. I am just a loser that way :-)

I'm so glad you had fun! Those Followhill boys do put on a great show. Something about their music must attract pot-smoking crazy concert-goers, though. Remember reading Lula's version of our concert back in May?

What was your favorite song? Mine was Use Somebody...

I love your descriptions of your concert neighbors! Definite must at any concert!

I would like to see them in concert some time. Sounds like fun.

I am firmly sticking to the fact that 2nd hand pot smoke is equally as damaging as directly inhaling.

Example 1: Laughing uncontrollably at explosive chocolate covered peanuts all over the car.

Example 2: Inhaling my weight in peanuts & candy corn upon arriving home at 2am. Munchies? Yep.

All of this aside, clearly this was the BEST MOM DATE EVAH! You know, if you weren't going to be in Vegas on Friday, KOL is coming to Nashville that day. You think Ashlyn would enjoy that for her bday? :-)

LOL! Your experience sounded a lot like the one I had at a recent Bob Dylan concert.

We had to deal with a huge drunk guy that I was worried was going to fall on top of me (and he did slosh his beer on me).

We saw drunk dude passed out at the entrance being taken away by paramedics.

Other than the drunk couple, it sounds like tons of fun! I don't remember the last time I went to a concert!

Sounds like you had quite the interesting time and fun to boot. I wish I could see Josh Grobin. Oh what a treat that would be!

I haven't been to a concert in forever. Too long, really. I'm such an old fogey, I'd probably be like "DUDE, the music is TOO loud. Can't we go somewhere where we can just talk?"

I am so glad that you all had a great time. I however, would not..no let me rephrase that, could not have stood it. I would have been on edge and not able to enjoy myself at all. Oh well, I'm glad y'all had a good time. Looking forward to meeting y'all in November at EE.

I saw Sarah McLachlan there a few years ago. It was amazing. Philips is a great venue...when not soaked in beer and surrounded by doobie. :)
